Healthy Kids Kern County

Dental 7: Healthy Kids Kern County is a low-cost health, vision, and dental insurance program for all children aged 0 to 5 who meet the eligibility criteria below. Membership is guaranteed for twelve (12) months unless eligibility changes or premium payments are late or unpaid.

If Health Net does not receive member premium payments, Health Net will contact the family to encourage participation. If they are unable to afford the premium, Health Net will discuss the Waiver of Premium payments option. The participating child(ren) may be disenrolled if premium payment isn’t made.

Other program costs include those paid at the doctor’s office, called co-payments. The co-payments for the Healthy Kids Kern County program range for $0 to $5 for services other than preventive services such as immunizations and regular check-ups, which are covered at no charge to the member. There is a $5 co-payment for most prescriptions. The Healthy Kids Kern County program limits the maximum amount for co-payments, including prescriptions, to $250 per family per year. It is the responsibility of the family to track the co-payments and to notify Health Net once the maximum has been met.
